WHAT IS NEUROFEEDBACK?

Neurofeedback, or brain-training, is a safe and non-invasive therapy

that has successfully helped clients worldwide for over 30 years.

It is gaining in popularity since research has demonstrated that

neurofeedback can lead to long-term improvement in treating

ADHD, insomnia, autism, anxiety, and other disorders.

Neurofeedback trains the brain to self-regulate by using a

learning process that strengthens synaptic connections in the brain.

 WHAT TO EXPECT?

A complimentary consultation will be scheduled with one of our

neurofeedback technicians to discuss the goals and expectations of the client,

complete an assessment form, and tour the facility.

During the consultation, a Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) will be scheduled.

A QEEG is a non-invasive procedure performed

by a neurodiagnostic technician that usually takes about an hour.

After the QEEG is interpreted, brain training sessions can begin.

WHY DO I NEED A QEEG?

To identify the areas of the brain that neurofeedback training would benefit,

a QEEG is performed during the initial assessment.

Brain mapping or (QEEG) gives us a snapshot picture of what is going on in the brain.

The sections that we need to focus on during training are identified by color.

It pinpoints the specific locations that impact mood, behavior and attention,

thus allowing each client to have a individualized treatment plan.

During a neurofeedback training, 7 sensors are placed on the scalp in

the specified areas designated on the QEEG, enabling the practitioner

to view the brain waves and the composite data.

A session is divided into 6 runs lasting 5 minutes in length,

totalling 30 minutes of brain training with pauses in between.

During the course of the session, the practitioner can adjust the

thresholds, (or goals), on one laptop as the client plays

a game on a second laptop or television.

The game is controlled by the client's brain activity instead of a controller.

Adjusting the thresholds can challenge the brain to function more efficiently.

Rewards are built into the games, as the client

maintains the designated thresholds.

Each session last approximately 45 minutes,

with improvement usually noted after 20 sessions.

Attending  at least twice a week has proven to be beneficial.
